Hello, my name is Will Weinberg, and I am from Owings Mills, Maryland. In 2024, I graduated from Elon University with a degree in Sport Management. Since I was a child, my life has revolved around sports, which led me to pursue opportunities to turn that passion into a career. After graduating, I worked for Fanatics and then Five Iron Golf, where I learned even more about the sports industry while also increasing my knowledge of the game of golf. Golf has a unique ability to bring people together who otherwise may have never crossed paths, and being part of an association that helps create those connections and experiences is something that I am truly excited about.

Why were you interested in an internship with the MSGA?

I knew I wanted to be surrounded by a group of people who shared the same passion for growing the game of golf. This specific internship sparked my interest because I knew I wanted to be out in the field, working events, and being part of a team that strives to achieve a common goal. As much as I love golf, I also love the opportunities the game creates to network and meet new people. This internship was a no-brainer for me, and I am excited to begin working with such an intelligent and passionate team that values growth and community.

When did you start playing golf? Who introduced you to the game?

I started playing golf in 2020 and have never looked back. I caught the “bug,” and there is rarely a time when I am not playing, watching, or thinking about golf. My college friends introduced me to the game, but my late grandfather gave me my first set of clubs. Being able to work in and stay involved with the game of golf helps me stay connected to him and appreciate the game even more. I always wish I had started playing earlier in my life, but there is so much joy in finding such a strong passion later than expected.

What is your favorite golf course in the area?

My favorite private course in the area is Woodholme Country Club. My grandparents belonged there, and it holds a special place in my heart. It was the first course I played in Maryland, and I still cherish the memory of sharing that experience with my grandfather. On the public side, my favorite courses are Mountain Branch Golf Club and Renditions Golf Course. Mountain Branch exemplifies one of the best parts of golf, which is the challenge it presents to players. Renditions, which is made up entirely of replica holes from famous courses around the world, gives golfers the opportunity to feel like professionals. They are both places I highly recommend for friends and family!

What do you like to do when you are not working?

Any chance I get outside of work, I am usually on a golf course. I also love playing and watching sports while making time to spend with friends and family. Being from Maryland, I am a die-hard Ravens and Orioles fan, which I can never decide is for better or worse. Outside of work, you can usually find me on the course or relaxing while watching my teams hopefully win games!
