The Maryland State Golf Association (MSGA) Board of Directors recently announced Grace Appel as the Association’s Manager of Development and Programming, effective May 31, 2022.

In her new role, she will manage all aspects of Women’s MSGA Championships and events, and assist in conducting USGA qualifiers in Maryland. She will also coordinate and oversee different aspects of Youth on Course (YOC) and the MSGA Junior Girls Golf Program including fundraising, administration, and outreach, in conjunction with the MSGA YOC Fundraising Committee and Women’s Committee.

Appel has been working part-time at the MSGA since the end of her seven-month MSGA P.J. Boatwright Internship beginning in April, 2021. Prior to her experience at the MSGA, she worked in Towson University’s Event and Conference Services as an Academic Building Manager and Game Day Event Staff. She was also involved in her sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi, serving as Secretary on the Executive Leadership Committee.

“It feels like I have been with the MSGA for much longer than a year; time flies when you’re having fun! I have learned so much about myself, the MSGA, and golf administration throughout my experience, so I am excited to see how much more I can grow and make a difference here,” said Appel.  “I was a junior golfer myself, and it had a huge impact on shaping my life. When I applied for the MSGA P.J. Boatwright Internship, Youth on Course and the Junior Girls Golf Program at the MSGA initially drew me in, and it couldn’t have worked out any better that I ended up in this position working with both of these programs. It truly is my passion within the industry to make a positive impact on females’ and kids’ lives through golf and to grow their opportunities.”

Grace is newly graduated from Towson University, class of 2022, with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration. She will continue to reside locally in Towson, MD.
