The 2021 Two-Woman Team Championship and Two-Woman Team Mid-Handicap Championship were held at The Preserve Eisenhower Golf Course in Crownsville, Maryland on Thursday, September 9th. The Two-Woman is a four-ball competition for teams with a combined handicap of 30.0 or less, while the Two-Woman Mid-Handicap is a four-ball competition for teams with a combined handicap of 30.1 and above.
With a large amount of rain saturating the golf course in the preceding day as well as a small shower the morning of the tournament, the course played longer than usual for the 82 women who participated. The Two-Woman Championship was played at 5,417 yards and the Two-Woman Mid-Handicap was played at 4,745 yards.
In the Two-Woman, the overall champions came from the final tee time – Elizabeth Herzfeld Rice and Emily Kwak. They shot an even-par 70, which included one birdie on the second hole. This was the first victory for the pair, but this is the third time Herzfeld Rice has won this event.The pair defeated fourteen other teams registered for the tournament. The runners-up were from Elkridge Club and the MSGA eClub, Sally Ratcliffe and Stephanie Ordakowski, with a one-over-par 71.
In the Two-Woman Mid-Handicap, the overall champions were Sue Daley and Tracy Edwards, who took advantage of the front nine by shooting a low gross 36. Daley and Edwards ended up winning by three strokes with a gross score of 76. The runners-up were Norma Toal and Carol Mattingly from the Golf Club at South River with a gross score of 80. The low net winners of the competition were Susan Wagner from Oak Creek Club and JoAnn Moreland from Enterprise Golf with a net score of 64.
