EDISON, N.J. – Carson Looney (Congressional Country Club) and Hunter Powell (University of Maryland Golf Course) advanced to the semifinals of the 10th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship, held at Plainfield Country Club and Echo Lake Country Club in New Jersey.
Their journey to the championship began last fall at Worthington Manor, where they fired a 7-under-par 65. They secured their spot in the field after a three-hole playoff.
In stroke play qualifying, Looney and Powell posted rounds of 70 at Echo Lake and 69 at Plainfield, finishing at 1-under-par and tied for 22nd overall. Their efforts earned them the 30th seed heading into match play.
