Alexandria, Va. – The 108th DC Amateur Championship is set to take place at Mount Vernon Country Club from August 11-13. The championship will be administered by the Virginia State Golf Association in partnership with the Maryland State Golf Association and will feature a full field of 132 players.

The championship will once again be contested as a 54-hole stroke-play event, a format introduced last year to replace the previous combination of stroke-play qualifying and match play. Two cuts will be made during the championship, with the field reduced to the low 70 players and ties after the first round and the low 35 players and ties after the second round.

Last year’s championship at Argyle Country Club was won in wire-to-wire fashion by the host club’s Jake Griffin. Griffin opened with a tournament-low 7-under-par 64 and finished at 12-under-par, three strokes ahead of Brad Whitaker of Columbia Country Club. His victory was punctuated by an eagle on the par-5 12th hole in all three rounds, helping him pull away down the stretch to claim the 107th DC Amateur title.
