Lutherville, Md. – The Maryland State Golf Association conducted its second qualifier for the 105th Maryland Amateur and 105th Maryland Open at Pine Ridge Golf Course on May 5. Seventeen players secured their spots for the 105th Maryland Amateur, while 16 players claimed their spots in the 105th Maryland Open.

Jack Halleron from Baltimore Country Club delivered a commanding performance, earning medalist honors in both qualifiers by five strokes. Halleron opened his round with a birdie-bogey-birdie before making another bogey at the sixth hole. He caught fire on the back nine, carding six birdies over his final 12 holes to post a six-under-par 65.

In the Amateur qualifier, Andrew Mlynarski from Crofton Country Club turned in a steady round to earn his place in the championship field. Mlynarski recorded two birdies on the front nine and finished his round at one-under-par 70. Halleron, Mlynarski, and  15 additional qualifiers will compete in the 105th Maryland Amateur at Columbia Country Club from June 4-7

In the open qualifier, Sean English, PGA, from Elkridge Country Club also finished a one-under-par 70 to secure his qualifying spot. English carded three birdies on the front nine before three bogeys on the back stalled his momentum. A birdie on hole 16 helped him close his round with a score of 70. English and Halleron will be joined by the 14 additional qualifiers at the 105th Maryland Open at Argyle Country Club from July 13-15.

The next 105th Maryland Amateur/Open qualifier will be held at Montgomery Country Club on Thursday, May 14.

The Maryland State Golf Association thanks the staff and members of Pine Ridge Golf Course for their hospitality in hosting the qualifier.
