About Youth on Course
Youth ages 6-18 are eligible to join the MSGA’s Youth on Course for an annual membership fee of $18, which entitles members to play 18 participating courses in Maryland and over 1,400 courses throughout the United States for $5 or less per round. Youth on Course eliminates golf as a barrier to the game of golf and provides opportunities to learn lessons that can be taught in way only a golf course can. The Maryland State Golf Association subsidizes the difference between the $5 rate the YOC member pays and the course’s normal junior rate so that golf courses do not lose money while supporting Youth on Course. Youth on Course in Maryland is made possible by individual donors, fundraising events, and a matching grant provided by the Caves Valley Golf Club Foundation. In 2020, the MSGA subsidized over 5,000 rounds of golf, totaling over $45,000 in subsidies. In 2021, we anticipate the subsidies could total close to $60,000.
