Rockville, Md. – Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md., played host to the 4th U.S. Adaptive Open this week, July 7-9. The tournament featured 73 men’s and 23 women’s adaptive players. Participants competed in an overall division and individual categories, which included coordination impairment, intellectual impairment, lower limb impairment, multiple limb amputee, seated players, short stature, upper limb impairment, and vision impairment.

In the men’s overall division, Kipp Popert of England took home his third consecutive U.S. Adaptive title. Popert established a firm grip on the top spot on the leaderboard with an astonishing first-round 11-under-par 61, a lead he would not surrender. Popert would follow that performance up with the next two lowest rounds for the tournament, with a 6-under-par 66 in round two and 7-under-par 65 in round three.

In the women’s overall division, Kim Moore of Battle Creek, Mich., saw the winner’s circle for a second time. She had won the inaugural U.S. Adaptive Open in 2022. Moore was the women’s leader at the end of round one after posting a 2-over-par 74, but faltered in round two with a 9-over-par 83. In round three, Moore came back with a 3-over-par 75, which was good enough to secure her second U.S. Adaptive title.

All three competed in the coordination impairment category. Martin was the only one to make the cut of the three. He showed stellar improvement throughout the week.

He began the tournament with a 5-over-par 77 in the first round. In his second round, he settled down with an even-par 72, which allowed him to finish above the cut line and advance to the final round.

However, he demonstrated focus in the final nine holes, carding four birdies, including three in the first three holes of that stretch. Martin finished his third round with a 2-under-par 70, placing him in a tie for 10th in the men’s overall final standings.
