Charles Town, W.V. – The 17th Mid-Atlantic Junior Boys’ Invitational pitted the Maryland State Golf Association (MSGA) against the Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) and the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) in a two-day stroke-play tournament. This year, the WVGA hosted the tournament at Locust Hill Golf Course in Charles Town, W.V., from October 18 to 19.

Dye), Nathan Switzer (Youth on Course Maryland), and James Jean-Baptiste (Youth on Course Maryland).

In round two, Joseph Vartabedian improved on his first round performance by three strokes, finishing with a score of 2-over-par 74. Vartabedian’s second-round performance boosted him into a tie for eighth place to finish the tournament. Tudor finished the tournament as Team Maryland’s top scorer, tallying a 3-over-par 75 in his second and tying for fourth place in the individual competition.
The tournament turned out to be a close competition between two teams, with Team Maryland finishing in third place, 27 strokes behind the leader. Both Team Virginia and Team West Virginia had four players who finished in the top ten at the end of the tournament. Team West Virginia narrowly defeated Team Virginia by two strokes to win the 17th Mid-Atlantic Junior Boys’ Invitational.
Tommy Evans, a member of Team West Virginia from Charles Town, W.V., held the advantage of competing on home soil and dominated the rest of the field. Evans turned in consecutive below-par performances starting with an impressive first round 6-under-par 66 and finishing with a strong second round 1-under-par 71. He won the individual competition by ten strokes with a score of 7-under-par, the only player to finish below par overall, and was the catalyst for Team West Virginia’s first ever victory in the Mid-Atlantic Junior Boys’ Invitational.
The VSGA leads for the most victories at 11 total, which was bolstered by a nine-year undefeated streak from 2014 to 2022. The MSGA sits in second with five, last claiming the title in 2023. Host responsibilities shift to the MSGA in 2026.
