The Maryland State Golf Association (MSGA) would like to announce that Karl Yergey has joined the Association as the Manager of Championships and Events.
In this role, he will assist in conducting one-day women’s and men’s events as well as aide the Director of Rules & Competitions in the preparation of and execution of MSGA championships and USGA qualifiers. A Maryland native and former high school teacher and golf coach in Hagerstown, Yergey joins the MSGA after a six-month stint as a USGA P.J. Boatwright intern with the Alabama Golf Association, where he was involved with operations and tournament administration.
“My internship experience taught me the subtleties of running championship events for an Allied Golf Association as well as the importance of serving the players involved in state-level competitions,” noted Yergey, “I look forward to bringing these experiences back home to Maryland.”
Yergey is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA with a bachelor’s degree in History, Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA with a Master’s degree in European History, and resides in Owings Mills, MD.
