The 2020 Two-Woman Team Championship and Two-Woman Team Mid-Handicap Championship were held at Hillendale Country Club in Phoenix, Maryland on Monday, August 31st. The Two-Woman is a four-ball competition for teams with a combined handicap of 30.0 or less, while the Two-Woman Mid-Handicap is a four-ball competition for teams with a combined handicap of 30.1 and above.
With a large amount of rain saturating the golf course in the preceding days as well as much of the afternoon of the tournament, the course played longer than usual for the 76 women who participated. While both events were a par 73, the Two-Woman was played at 5,786 yards and the Two-Woman Mid-Handicap was played at 5,074 yards.
In the Two-Woman, the overall champions came from the final tee time of the event – Christina Hui and Caroline Barbeau. They shot a three-under-par 70, which included birdies on holes 1, 5, and 7 as well as a streak of birdies on 13, 14, and 15. This was the first victory for the Bretton Woods pair, defeating fourteen other teams registered for the tournament. The runners-up were from Breton Bay Golf & Country Club, Emily Abeling and Kimbra Benson, with an even-par 73.
In the Two-Woman Mid-Handicap, the overall champions were Geri Smyth and Pat Erdly, who used their home course advantage to win the event by three strokes with a score of 81. The runners-up were Susan Wagner from Oak Creek Club and JoAnn Moreland from Enterprise Golf Course with an 84. The low net winners of the competition were Susan Darnley from Enterprise Golf Course and Cheryl Keeter from Compass Pointe Golf Course with a net score of 67.
