Pikesville, Md. – The 27th Maryland Women’s Open, presented by Toyota, began Tuesday, October 6, at The Suburban Club, when 42 players teed up hoping to etch their names into Maryland golf history. The course proved challenging as only two players finished the day at even-par.

Ami Gianchandani of Watchung, N.J., was the first player to finish with a round of even-par 72. Gianchandani struggled on the front nine, carding three bogeys and one double bogey against two birdies to make the turn at three-over-par. She rebounded on the back nine, carding three birdies to even out her round.

Josee Doyon of Boynton Beach, Fla., opened her round with three bogeys through her first four holes, but consecutive birdies on the 5th and 6th gave her momentum heading into the back nine. Doyon played clean golf from there and fired an additional birdie on the 17th to finish the day at even-par 72.

Ana Ferreyra Heit of Glen Allen, Va., and Maddie McCully of Knoxville, Md., stayed close to the leaders throughout their rounds and tied for third heading into the final round.
