The Maryland State Golf Association, currently representing over 145 member clubs and close to 40,000 golfers, will be celebrating 100 years during 2021! A few notable ways we are celebrating include an MSGA history book that will be published  later this year and a Centennial Celebration in the fall of 2021. Additionally, plans for inducting the first class of the Maryland Golf Hall of Fame are underway. Lastly, many of our founding member clubs will be joining us in commemorating our centennial year by hosting men’s and women’s championships.

The Maryland State Golf Association was founded during a meeting at the Emerson Hotel in Baltimore on March 8, 1921. The founding clubs, which were said to represent 8,000 golfers were as follows:

• Baltimore Country Club
• Cumberland Country Club
• Elkridge Club
• Green Spring Valley Hunt Club
• Hagerstown Country Club
• Maryland Country Club
• Monterey Country Club
• Naval Academy Golf Club
• Public Parks Golf Association
• Rolling Road Golf Club
• Sherwood Forest Golf Club
• Suburban Club
• Talbot Country Club
• Tome Golf Club
