The Maryland State Golf Association introduced a new pod format for the 2026 Maryland Women’s State Team Championship. Teams were divided into four-team pods based on combined team handicap totals. Within each pod, the 1 seed faced the 4 seed and the 2 seed faced the 3 seed in opening-round matches, with the winners advancing to determine the pod champion.
In the first pod, Norbeck Country Club advanced to the pod final with a decisive 10.5-1.5 victory over Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club. Montgomery Country Club earned its place in the final after defeating Eagle’s Nest Country Club, 8.5-3.5. Norbeck then defeated Montgomery 9-3 to claim the first pod title.
The second pod featured tightly contested matches throughout. Rolling Road Golf Club edged Sparrows Point Country Club, 6.5-5.5, while Kenwood Golf & Country Club narrowly defeated Manor Country Club, 7-5. The pod final proved equally competitive, as Kenwood slipped past Rolling Road by another 6.5-5.5 margin to secure the second pod championship.
The third pod featured a two-club, two-round aggregate match between The Golf Club at South River and Breton Bay Golf & Country Club. South River delivered a dominant overall performance, taking the first round 8.5-3.5 and then the second round 11-1, defeating Breton Bay by a score of 19.5-4.5.
