Tenafly, N.J. – Team MSGA captured the 62nd Williamson Cup in just their second year competing in the tournament, dominating the field with an impressive nine-stroke victory. The tournament featured two 18-hole rounds of aggregate stroke play, with the team’s three lowest scores from each round counting toward the team’s overall score.
Round one of the tournament began in the morning on Tuesday, August 11, with round two following in the afternoon. The event was hosted by the Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) and took place at Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly, N.J. Team MSGA was represented by Jack Kelley of Congressional Country Club, David Kim of Youth on Course Maryland, Landon O’Hara of Argyle Country Club, and Ben Spencer of Congressional Country Club.
Round One
Team MSGA got off to a strong start, finishing with a total round one score of three-under-par and placing them in second as they moved into the second round. Landon O’Hara credited their confidence and patient play to the camaraderie they’ve built over the years, “We all knew each other coming in. We’ve all played in tournaments together before, kind of growing up in the same area.”
Spencer led the team after firing off a two-under-par 70, which also placed him in a tie for second in the individual competition. Kelley’s one-under-par 71 finish in the first round pushed the team’s total lead to three-under-par, securing him a spot tied for seventh. Kim finished the first round in ninth place after shooting even-par, and O’Hara’s one-over-par finish kept him within striking distance in a tie for 10th place.
With round two just ahead, the team kept their momentum and had their sights set on the trophy.
Round Two
Round two saw Team MSGA ready to claim victory and dominate the field. Kim and O’Hara fired off rounds of three-under-par 69, and Spencer managed an even-par 72, making for a six-under-par team total for round two. A successful second round pushed Team MSGA’s lead to a tournament total of nine-under-par, nine strokes clear of the rest of the field.
In the individual competition, all four members of the team finished inside the top-10, with David Kim securing co-medalist honors after carding a total score of three-under-par 141. O’Hara and Spencer each finished tied for third with total scores of two-under-par 142, and Kelley ended the tournament in a tie for sixth after carding an even-par 144 total.

62nd Williamson Cup Co-Medalist David Kim
After dominating in the 62nd Williamson Cup, Team MSGA already has their sights set on next year. “Hopefully we can come back next year and try and win it again with the same guys. It’d be great,” Kelley said.
The MSGA would like to thank the staff and membership at Knickerbocker Country Club, as well as the MGA, for a great day at the course.
