Hi, my name is Cal Lanouette and I am excited to be joining the MSGA team as the Manager of Marketing & Outreach! Before accepting this position with the MSGA, I had been with the Sun Country Golf House based in Albuquerque, NM. I was the organization’s Player Development Director for three years and oversaw programs such as the Sun Country Junior Tour, PGA Jr League, PGA HOPE, and Youth on Course. It was a rewarding experience and I was fortunate to see many of our programs grow under my tenure.

I have a background in marketing and communications through my education and prior work experience. I graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and an emphasis in strategic communications. I’ve held positions in both strategic communications and public relations for my prior work experience. I am currently working towards acquiring my Master’s of Science in Sports Management through the University of Florida and look forward to completing this degree at the end of Summer 2026!

Why were you interested in the MSGA?

Joining the Maryland State Golf Association immediately interested me because this position would allow me to combine my marketing skills with the game of golf. The MSGA plays a vital role in supporting amateur golf in Maryland, fostering a sense of community among golfers. I saw the MSGA as well respected organization with a strong reputation and I knew it was an organization I wanted to be a part of. It all comes back to growing the game of golf and I knew I could be an asset to the MSGA to help continue growing the game in Maryland.

What are you most looking forward to during your first year?

I am looking forward to putting both my player development and marketing skills to work and contribute to MSGA initiatives such as the MSGA auction and the Youth on Course 100 Hole Hike. I am also looking forward to connecting with MSGA golfers and member clubs to understand their needs and hopefully finding ways to enhance the golfer experience throughout Maryland. I am also looking forward to exploring my new city and all it has to offer.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

When I am not working you can probably find me at a local dog park with my wife and two dogs. We love exploring the outdoors with our dogs and seeing new sights. I am really looking forward to the food and beverage scene in Baltimore, so I’ll be on the hunt for the best crab cake (suggestions welcome!). I am also a massive sports fan, so I will be at as many Orioles, Ravens and DC sport events as I can too. Overall, I’m excited to be in the Maryland and on the East Coast!
