Low Amateur – Tucker Sampson

In the first round, David Hutsell, PGA, from Baltimore Country Club, shot a three-under-par 67. Hutsell parred the first seven holes, then made his first birdie on the par-3 8th, followed by birdies on Holes 11 and 14 to reach three under par. He bogeyed the par-3 17th Redan but bounced back with a birdie on #18 to finish the day with a three-shot lead. Five players sat at T2 with a round of even par after day one: George Bradford, Sean English, PGA (The Elkridge Club), James Fitzgerald, PGA (Chevy Chase Club), Craig Gunn, PGA (Danville Golf Club) and Ricky Touma, PGA (Burning Tree Club).

Round Two began with a two-tee start at 9:30 due to a frost delay. Four players were able to shoot under par rounds even though the scoring average was a stroke higher than round one. Two-time champions Dirk Schultz, PGA, and Rick Schuller, PGA, both shot 1-under-par rounds. In the second-to-last group of the day, Sean English made a total of six birdies and four bogeys to finish the event at 2-under-par. George Bradford, in the last group of the day, had a birdie chance on the 18th hole to force a playoff with English but ended up making par, finishing the tournament at 1-under-par and in second place.

The Maryland Senior Open wraps up the 2024 MSGA Championship Schedule. The MSGA would like to thank all who participated throughout the season and all of the host clubs for opening their tee sheets for competitions.
