The Maryland State Golf Association, in collaboration with the United States Golf Association, hosted qualifying for the 2025 U.S. Men’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Worthington Manor Golf Club on September 24. Out of 58 teams competing for a place in the USGA event, only two advanced, while two more earned alternate spots. The 10th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball will take place at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey, on May 17-21.

After stroke play, three teams were tied at 65 (-7), necessitating a playoff to determine the two qualifying teams and first alternate. The teams of Carson Looney-Hunter Powell, Ben Warnquist-Connor Tendall, and Billy Wingerd-Jeff Castle went to the 10th hole for the playoff, and all made par. After all three teams made par on the second playoff hole (the 11th), the playoff continued to the par-3 15th. Impressive tees shots by Carson Looney and Ben Warnquist allowed their teams to secure the two qualifying spots, while Wingerd and Castle claimed the first alternate position after making a bogey.

In the playoff for the second alternate spot, the team of Billy Peel and Brendan Peel birdied the 14th hole to beat Brad Whitaker-Matthew Barnes and Jay Whitby-Tim Porter, earning the second alternate spot.

The MSGA would like to thank the staff of Worthington Manor Golf Club for their help in hosting the final USGA qualifier of 2024!
