The 83rd Father-Son Championship and the 3rd Parent-Child Championship were hosted yesterday at Chesapeake Bay Golf Club in Rising Sun, Maryland. The Father-Son event follows a four-ball stroke play format, and the Parent-Child event follows a modified alternate shot format with both players teeing off, picking the better tee shot, and alternating who hits the following shots from there.
David and Conner Nocar (Chartwell G&CC) won the Father-Son event by shooting a 6-under-par round of 65. Their round was not the most eventful to start as they made par on their first seven holes. They finally put a circle on the card by making a birdie on No. 8, but they immediately gave that shot back on No. 9 with a bogey. After making a par on No. 10, the Nocar duo caught fire. They made six birdies in their final eight holes to shoot 30 (-6) on the back nine.
The Parent-Child event had Gross and Net divisions and multiple flights within them.
The winners in the Gross Division included:
- 12-15 Flight: Kennedy and Gavin Cliffe (MSGA eClub) with 93 (+21)
- 16-22 Flight: Ben and Emma Koech (Safari GC) with 79 (+7)
- 23-24 Flight: Ben and Kathy Shields (Hunt Valley CC) with 80 (+8)
- 35+ Flight: Jeremy and Ku Hwa Lee (MSGA eClub) with 81 (+9)
