Clustered Spires Golf Club played host to the US Amateur Qualifier on Wednesday, June 30th. The course played 6,728 yards and a par of 70. Hot and firm conditions made a challenging test for all players involved.
Devin Morley from Galaway, Ireland took home medalist by shooting 67-62 (-11) over the 36-hole stretch. Jake Sollon from Venetia, Pennsylvania took the next qualifying spot with rounds of 69-67 (-4). Morley who just finished his redshirt senior year at the University of Louisville, made a total of 15 birdies over the 36-hole stretch. In the second round, he made a total of five birdies on the back nine to shoot 32-30.
Two players tied at -3 which forced a playoff for the first and second alternate positions. But with big storms on the way, Mike Mitchell from Chevy Chase, Maryland conceded the first alternate spot to Danny Pedrazzi of Glen Allen, Virginia.
