Greystone Golf Course in White Hall was the setting for the 96th edition of the MSGA Junior Boys Amateur Championship on July 22 and 23. 78 players (ages 14-18) played the Baltimore County municipal course at 6755 yards and par 72.

This was the first male event MSGA conducted in 2020 after the long shutdown of competitive golf in Maryland due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The field displayed a plethora of talent on both days of the championship. Unfortunately, the Committee had to reduce the championship to 18 holes following a suspension of play on Wednesday afternoon due to heavy storms and three inches of rain.

Michael Crowley Jr., Hayfields CC, shot 68 and captured the 16-18 division and overall championships. He had a tremendous start to his round with an eagle on the par five opener and played lights out the rest of the way, tallying a total of 4 birdies with just two bogeys on holes 9 and 14. Crowley alluded to his play on Greystone’s five par fives that allowed him to go low this week. He finished atop the leaderboard at 4-under par and one shot clear of defending champion, Bryan Kim, of Argyle CC.

Kim, who hails from Brookeville, was the 14-15 division champion for the second consecutive year. He was steady throughout his round, with 4 birdies through 17 holes. His only trouble came on the final hole, where he found the trees and had to chip-out to make bogey for 3-under 69. Charlie Bundy of Bethesda finished two shots back of Kim in third with a 1-under 71. Bundy had carded the low round prior to the suspension of play that included 5 birdies. Five players tied for fourth at even par.
