Saint Michaels, Md. – The Maryland State Golf Association hosted its first One-Day Four-Ball event of the year at the Links at Perry Cabin on Thursday, Aug. 27. The tournament featured three divisions, Men’s, Senior Men’s, and Women’s/Mixed, with gross and net competitions in each.
Men’s Division
Net
Jason Amos of Crofton Country Club and Matt Weiss of Lake Presidential Golf Club claimed the Men’s Net competition at eight-under-par 64. The pair carded eight birdies and an eagle against two bogeys to finish one stroke ahead of three teams tied for second.
Gross
Tyden Wilson of Baltimore Country Club and Don Phattiyakul of Worthington Manor Golf Club won the Men’s Gross competition by three strokes after posting a six-under-par 66. Wilson and Phattiyakul recorded nine birdies against three bogeys during their round.
Senior Men’s Division

David Solley and Robert Comeaux of the MSGA eClub dominated the Senior Men’s Net competition, finishing five strokes clear of the field. Solley and Comeaux carded eight birdies and a double eagle against a lone bogey to post a 10-under-par 62.
Gross
Lee Flemister of Worthington Manor Golf Club and David Nocar of Chartwell Golf and Country Club claimed the Senior Men’s Gross competition by two strokes with a five-under-par 67. The pair carded six birdies against a single bogey during their round.
Women’s/Mixed
Net
David Baden and Ann Odell Harnett of Chartwell Golf and Country Club won the Women’s/Mixed Net competition by seven strokes with an eight-under-par 64. Baden and Harnett recorded eight birdies and an eagle against one double bogey.
Gross
The Women’s/Mixed Gross competition came down to a tiebreaker, which favored Robert Walton and Fumiyo Terasawa of Hog Neck Golf Course. Walton and Terasawa carded three birdies against eight bogeys to finish at seven-over-par 79.
The format for the event was Four-Ball stroke play, often referred to as better ball. In Four-Ball, competitors play as partners, with each player playing their own ball. The lower score of the two partners counts as the team’s score for each hole. If a player is confident their score will not count, they are not required to finish the hole, though at least one member of the team must hole out.
For the Women’s/Mixed Gross competition, the committee used the USGA-recommended method for breaking ties when a playoff is not feasible, as outlined in Committee Procedures 5A(6) of the Official Guide to the Rules of Golf.
Congratulations to all of our winners, and thank you to the staff and membership at the Links of Perry Cabin for hosting this MSGA One-Day event.
