Laval-sur-le-Lac, Quebec – In its inaugural participation in the Williamson Cup, Team MSGA finished in a tie for third place with the team from the Golf Association of Philadelphia (GAP). The tournament consisted of two 18-hole rounds of aggregate stroke play, where the team’s three lowest scores from each round counted toward the team’s overall score.
Round one of the tournament took place in the morning on Tuesday, August 5, followed by round two in the afternoon. The event was held at Le Club Sur Le Lac in Laval-sur-le-Lac, Quebec. Team MSGA was represented by George Williamson from Turf Valley Resort, Jackson Geyer from Youth on Course – Maryland, Aidan Tudor from The Club at P.B. Dye, and Henry Tracy from Congressional Country Club.
Team MSGA struggled in round one, finishing with a total score of 20-over-par, which placed them in a tie for sixth place. However, round two was a different story, as the team was able to regain its footing.
In round two, every team member improved on their performance from round one by at least four strokes. As a result, the team finished the second round at even-par, which tied for the lowest round score by any team in the tournament. This strong performance propelled them three spots up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for third place overall.
Notably, in the individual category, Henry Tracy shot a 2-under-par 69 in the second round, climbing seven spots on the leaderboard after carding a 5-over-par 76 in round one. He ultimately finished the tournament in fourth place overall.
The MSGA would like to thank the staff and membership at Le Club Sur Le Lac, as well as Golf Quebec, for a great day at the course.
