Ijamsville, Md. – The Club at P.B. Dye played host to the 125th U.S. Amateur Final Qualifying on Thursday, July 17, where 28 players competed for five qualifying spots and two alternate positions.

Logan Reilly of Lovettsville, Va., earned the medalist honors after firing a 6-under-par 64. Reilly’s round got off to a bumpy start with a bogey on his first hole. He would recover quickly, going on to birdie eight of his next 15 holes to secure the medalist position. Evan Barbin of Elkton, Md., also put together an impressive round with a 3-under-par 67. Barbin began his round with three birdies in his first four holes and put together a clean back nine en route to his second-place finish and a qualifying spot.

Nicholas Turowski of Harrison City, Pa., and Aaron Sorkin of Westminster, Md., each finished at 1-under-par 69, tying them for the third place position, and good enough to each receive a qualifying spot.

Chase Nevins of Great Falls, Va., and Daniel Suter of Gaithersburg, Md., each completed their rounds at 1-over-par 71, leading to a playoff for the fifth and final qualifying spot. The playoff would go two holes, with Nevins laying claim to the final qualifying spot on the second playoff hole. As a result, Suter was declared the first alternate.

Edward Coffren V of Owings, Md., and Cael Ropiestski of Harveys Lake, Pa., both finished their rounds at 2-over-par 72 and in a tie for the second alternate spot, setting up the second playoff of the day. Coffren made quick work of Ropiestski, winning the playoff on the first hole and claiming the second alternate spot.

The five qualifiers now advance to the 125th U.S. Amateur Championship, which will be held at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif., from August 11-17. For more information about the 125th U.S. Amateur Championship, please visit the tournament website.
