Pikesville, Md. – 62 players came out to The Suburban Club on Monday, June 30, to vie for the three qualifying and two alternate spots in the 70th U.S. Senior Amateur. It was a highly competitive and closely contested qualifier, with the three qualifiers earning their spots by only a stroke on the Par-70 (6549 yds) layout.

Three players tied for the top spot on the leaderboard, earning each of them medalist honors and a qualifying spot in the qualifier. Todd Mostoller (Hummelstown, Pa.), Bill Jeremiah (Glen Mills, Pa.), and Bryan Koslosky (Severna Park, Md.) each tallied a score of 4-over-par 74 to secure their qualifying spots.

The three qualifiers played very similar rounds on their way to earning their spots. Each player carded a 36 on the first nine and a 38 on the second nine. Mostroller recorded one birdie, three bogeys, and a double bogey en route to his 4-under-par 74. Jeremiah carded two birdies, two bogeys, and two double bogeys to record his 4-under-par 74. Koslosky played a near clean first nine with just a bogey on hole eight, but followed that with three bogeys on the second nine to reach his score of 4-under-par 74.

At the conclusion of play, the two alternate spots still needed to be determined as four players were tied at a 5-over-par 75. However, just two players would compete for the two alternate spots in the playoff: Elmer Amaya (Falls Church, Va.) and Bowen Sargent (Charlottesville, Va.). The playoff went for three holes. Amaya earned the first alternate spot after tallying a par on the third playoff hole, and the second alternate spot was subsequently awarded to Sargent.

Jeremiah, Mostoller, and Koslosky will now compete in the 70th U.S. Senior Amateur at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, Texas, from August 23-28. For more information on the 70th U.S. Senior Amateur, CLICK HERE.
