The 27th Poindexter Cup, an annual competition between junior girls from Maryland and Virginia, was held at Kiln Creek Golf Club and Resort in Newport News, Virginia, from June 14-15. Each state selects eight girls to participate in the two-day match-play event. The girls representing Maryland were:

  • Andie Greenberg (Woodmont Country Club)
  • Caitlyn Navaleza (Haysfield Country Club / Youth on Course – Maryland)
  • Claire Son (Youth on Course – Maryland / MSGA eClub)
  • Joelle Johnson (Youth on Course – Maryland)
  • Julianna Ishii (Baltimore Country Club / Youth on Course – Maryland)
  • Lani Park (Youth on Course – Maryland)
  • Lila Becker (Cattail Creek Country Club / Youth on Course – Maryland)
  • Malaya Johnson (Youth on Course – Maryland)

The weekend kicked off with Four-Ball matches on Saturday, June 14. Despite being 1-down for a majority of the match, the duo of Ishii and Navaleza were able to secure a tie and a half point on the final hole for Team Maryland. Becker and Greenberg never trailed when it came to their match and were able to squeeze out a 1-up victory and secure a whole point for Team Maryland. After day one, Maryland trailed Virginia 2.50 to 1.50.

Day two saw Team Maryland secure a total of two points by way of J. Johnson and Navaleza. After tying the first three holes, J. Johnson won hole four and never looked back. She finished her match 4 and 3, securing a whole point for the team. Navaleza found herself in a back-and-forth match with Virginia opponent Ashika Vuradi, which saw the pairing tied for ten holes throughout the match. Navaleza would eventually get the upper hand on the 15th hole, not surrendering the lead for the remainder of the match to win 2-up. By the end of the singles matches, Virginia had secured an 8.5 to 3.5 victory over Maryland.
