Faulkner, 18, a rising Sophomore at the University of Manhattan and Rockville native, carded five birdies and no bogeys to shoot a 5-under-par 67 and earn medalist honors in the 104th Maryland Amateur Qualifying division. Steinwand, 34, from the University of Maryland Golf Course, followed just behind, going 4-under-par 68 with six birdies and two bogeys to earn a spot in the 104th Maryland Amateur. Just behind Faulkner and Steinwand in Open Qualifying came Daniel Suter, 22, from Gaithersburg, MD., who shot 3-under-par 69 with five birdies and two bogeys. Tied with Suter came Noah Siman, a Lynchburg graduate of Rockville, Md., who carded five birdies and two bogeys, and Charlie Winegardner, who carded five birdies through 16 before two bogeys on the last two holes to sink his chances for a top spot.
