Laytonsville, Md. – The 29th Senior Fall-Ball Championship was held at Montgomery Country Club in Laytonsville, Maryland, and while there may have been two rain delays, players took advantage of the soft conditions.

In the Senior Division, Mike McCarthy and Stuart Strang of Argyle Country Club came out on top with a blistering 9-under-par round of 63.  The duo started off their round by making a 35-foot birdie putt on the first hole, but after that, they went cold.  With a short rain delay halfway through their front nine, they made 8 straight pars to finish off the front side.  As they turned to No. 10, Strang hit a 5 iron from 195 yards that found the bottom of the cup.  The eagle propelled them to 3-under-par for their round, but the second rain delay came soon after.  After waiting for an hour in the clubhouse, the duo did not pull their foot off the gas pedal.  They finished off their round with six consecutive birdies to shoot an 8-under-par total of 28 on the back nine.  They ended up beating the next closest team by four shots.

In the Super Senior Division, Gavin Stringer and Tom Grem emerged victorious with a 1-under-par round of 71.  Their round looked different than the gentlemen playing in the Senior Division because all competitors in the Super Senior Division teed off in the late morning and early afternoon.  Instead of having a rain delay in the middle of their round, Stringer and Grem had both delays right at the beginning of their round.  Not only were they battling the rain, but they were also battling darkness as well.  The duo made four birdies and one bogey in their first nine holes to shoot a 3-under-par front side total of 33.  As they got around to the back side, they struggled as they made two bogeys and seven pars.  Ultimately, their round of 71 held off the other teams, and Stringer and Grem won the Super Senior title for the second time in three years.

The winners of the Net Senior Division were Brain Crabtree and Randy Barnes out of Beaver Creek Country Club.  They shot a net 7-under-par round of 65.  The winners of the Net Super Senior Division were Matt Neitzey and William Musser out of the University of Maryland Golf Course.  They shot a net 10-under-par round of 62.
