The weekend warranted wet, soggy playing conditions from a series of rain storms, which players were fortunate enough to dodge during their matches. After an opening round of four-ball matches on Saturday, Virginia finished the day with 3 1/2 points, and Maryland finished the day with 1/2 point from a tied match earned by Sukhumparnich and Hua.
During Sunday’s singles matches, team Maryland fought for a tough six points needed to win the Cup. Each match displayed fierce competition by both teams. After a hard fight, Virginia earned the Cup winning the first five singles matches to finish. The remaining three matches agreed not to finish, and remained as they stood, earning Maryland an additional 2 1/2 points on the leaderboard.
The final score from the competition was Virginia (9) and Maryland (3)
