Hi, my name is Aaron Winsker. I am the 3 month summer intern for the Maryland State Golf Association. I am a recent graduate from Stockton University where I played college baseball and graduated with a Business Studies degree. I am from Phoenix, MD and attended Hereford High School. I found my passion for golf during the pandemic where I was able to play all the time. Last summer I caddied at Hidden Creek Golf Club in New Jersey and continued caddying through my senior year of college. Caddying allowed me to test my golf knowledge in order to help other golfers play to the best of their ability. I am grateful for this internship opportunity because I can continue to learn more about golf, gain experience in the industry and follow my passion.
Why were you interested in an internship with the MSGA?
While I was getting closer to graduating college I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do afterwards. I wanted to take the advice of doing something I love which is golf. The MSGA offers a great opportunity for me to gain valuable experience in the golf industry and also do something I enjoy.
What is your favorite golf course in the area?
My favorite golf course in the area is Eagle’s Nest Country Club. As a member at Eagle’s Nest, I am able to use their practice facilities and play as often as I want which has enabled me to improve my game. Also, the course is always in great shape and has great views.
When did you start playing golf? Who got you into the game?
I started playing golf at a young age since my dad has always been a golfer. I never played on a consistent basis so I wasn’t very good at young age. I was able to be a part of my High School golf team where I started playing more and made minor improvements to my game. It wasn’t until covid where I took golf seriously and was able to start playing better golf consistently. Since then I have continued to improve my game and play as often as possible.
