Urbana, Md. – Local Qualifying for the United States Golf Association’s 122nd U.S. Open was held Tuesday, May 3rd, at Worthington Manor Golf Club. The par 72 course was played at 7040 yards and was administered by the Maryland State Golf Association. Eight spots were available to advance to final qualifying for the 122nd U.S. Open.

Tuesday was the perfect day for golf, with the temperatures reaching up to 79 degrees and partly cloudy as Chris Eigner of Arlington, VA, led the way and claimed medalist honors after firing a 4-under-par 68.

Joining Eigner and advancing to the Final Qualifier will be Zack Miller (Towson, MD), Ben Boyle (St. Simmons Island, GA), and Tom Adrounie (Davenport, FL), Mickey Demorat (Fairfax, VA), and Josh Duangmanee (Fairfax, VA). All five players recorded a 3-under-par 69 to earn their spots for final qualifying.

A playoff was needed between three players at 2-under-par, 70 to claim the final two spots of qualifying and the first alternate. A 6-way playoff was needed to decide the second alternate. The players competed well into the evening as they battled it out for their respective spots. On the third playoff hole par-4 10th, Brett Reid (Spicer, MN) and Andrew Loupe (Baton Rouge, LA) were able to make par and Bryan Morris (Orlando, FL) made bogey, and earned the first alternate spot. The second alternate spot was played on the 193-yard, par-3,16th at Worthington Manor until dark. Right before the sun was about to set Zachary Barbin (Elkton, MD) earned the second alternate spot after winning the 6-way playoff.
