Columbia, M.d. – On Monday, May 9th, the MSGA hosted the third 101st Maryland State Am/Open Qualifier at Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club. 111 players drove to Columbia, Maryland, to try and qualify for the 101st Maryland Amateur and/or the 101st Maryland Open.

Hobbit’s Glen played at 6,596 yards for the qualifier with some challenging conditions during the day. During the day, it was a little chilly, but it started to heat up in the afternoon. However, the wind was a factor all day as it was a little breezy, causing some disruptions for players. Dan Falls of Manor Country Club finished in 1st place for the 101st Maryland Open qualifier, carding a 4-under- par 68. 67 golfers were competing for 15 spots plus ties for a chance to play in the 101st Maryland Open. After the day was over, 18 players finished at 3-over-par 75 or better and qualified.

Dan Falls also finished in first place for amateur qualifying. 79 golfers competed for their right to play in the Maryland Amateur, with only 20 spots plus ties available. The cut for the Am was 6-over-par 78, as there were six players tied for 20th shooting after 6-over-par. In total, 25 golfers qualified for the Am in June at Argyle Country Club.
