We are deeply saddened to share that Patsy DiMuzio, a past Maryland State Golf Association Women’s Division (MSGA-WD) Executive Committee member, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021 in Ridgeland, Mississippi where she was living in her retirement. Patsy was a long-time resident of Alexandria, Virginia and a member of The Country Club at Woodmore where she loved to play golf with her many friends. She was the first female President of The Country Club at Woodmore and over the years she was active with both the Women’s District of Columbia Golf association (WDCGA) and the Montgomery-Prince George’s Counties Women’s Golf Association (M-PG WGA). Patsy first joined the MSGA-WD in November of 2010 and served as a member of the committee until November of 2019. Additionally, she served as the Corresponding Secretary in 2013-2017. Patsy was extremely dedicated to volunteering at countless women’s golf events and seminars during her time with the MSGA, and always went the extra mile to ensure the player’s experience on and off the course was exceptional. Beyond golf, she dearly loved history, the Shakespeare Theater and going to museums.
Patsy was born in Jackson, Mississippi on May 23, 1947 and was the middle child of three girls. Her sisters June Wilkinson Evans was four years older and her sister Leslie Wilkinson Sherrill was four years young. Patsy attended Boyd Elementary, Bailey Junior High, and graduated from Murrah High School in 1965. She received the B.A. degree from Newcomb College of Tulane University in 1969 and the MBA from Southern Methodist University in 1972. Patsy worked at the Small Business Administration in Washington, D.C., as a financial analyst and ended her government career at the Farm Credit Administration. Patsy was the widow of Anthony “Tony” DiMuzio, whom she dearly loved. She is survived by her two sisters, June Evans (S.R.) of Greenwood, and Leslie Sherrill (Tom) of Coppell, TX; two nephews, Taylor Sherrill of Coppell and S. R. Evans III (Amy) of Morganton, NC, and three nieces, Claire Evans Martin (Brian) of Nashville, TN, Caroline Evans de Gantes (Florent) of Paris, France, and Christine Sherrill of Dallas, TX as well as some very special cousins.
Patsy was one of the first campers to attend Camp Seale-Harris in Alabama for diabetic children; she also enjoyed going to TCDC – Tennessee Camp for Diabetic Children in Soddy-Daisy, TN. But golf was a passion, and she played with Tony and with the ladies at her club as often as possible. The golf clubs were always in the car. The other passion was her love for her cats through the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts to a favorite charity. A time for visiting with family and friends will take place Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 10 to 11 AM at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
