The 51st Maryland Women’s Senior Amateur Championship was held at Kenwood Golf & Country Club in Bethesda, MD on September 4th and 5th. A field of 41 women competed in the two-day championship on a 5,290 yard par 71 course, on a beautiful weather day with great course conditions at Kenwood.
Sally Ratcliffe from the Elkridge Club clinched the Championship title win by one-stroke against Kimbra Benson (Breton Bay Golf & Country Club). It was a tough competition with both Sally & Kimbra scoring 79 on day one. It remained close the second day and was decided on the last hole with Kimbra making a birdie for a 74 (total 153) and Sally making her putt to score a 73 (total 152). This marked Sally’s second victory in this tournament, with her last win at Argyle Country Club in 2017.
Ten 70+ seniors competed in a one day competition on Wednesday, on a 5,122 yard par 71 course. Mina Coggeshall won low gross with an 82 and Joan Rohlfs was the low net winner with a 64.
