The Maryland State Junior Amateur was held at Chartwell Golf and Country Club on Monday, June 21, concluding on Wednesday June 23 after rain delays suspended play on Tuesday. All Golfers in the Championship Division (14-18) competed in 36-hole stroke play format. All competitors played the first 18 holes, then the low 24 scores & ties and those within 8 strokes of the leading score moved on to play the remaining 18 holes the following day. The champion was the low gross 36-hole score in the field. The 12-13 Division champion was the low gross 18-hole score from day one.
Day One consisted of a field containing 107 golfers battling through the 100+ degree heat index, where Bryan Kim from Argyle CC took the lead finishing the day 5-under-par and Jake Roth from Lakewood CC close behind at 4-under-par. Day Two presented more challenges with extremely rainy conditions which later resulted in suspension of play until the following day. On the final day, the weather was in the low 70’s and sunny creating great conditions for the remaining competitors to complete their 36 holes. Lorenzo Sanz from Hayfields CC rose up on the leaderboard with four birdies and just one bogey putting him at 4-under-par after 36 holes, meanwhile Kim dropped back with three bogeys and a double bogey on No. 16 to finish 4-under-par after 36 holes. With Sanz and Kim tied for the Championship, they headed to playoff holes, where Kim, the 2019 Champion and 2020 runner-up, came out on top winning both the 16-18 Division and overall Championship Division with a par on the first playoff hole.

The 14-15 Division trophy was awarded to Benjamin Siriboury from Youth on Course-Maryland who finished T10 overall, and winning his age group by four strokes, finishing 3-over-par after 36 holes. The 12-13 Division trophy was awarded to Nick Mantzouranis from Montgomery CC who also won his age group by four strokes, finishing 2-over-par after 18 holes.
