Join the Fun at an MSGA One-Day Event
MSGA One-Day events are tournaments for men and women golfers of all ages and abilities. Cart and range fees are included, and net and gross prizes are awarded to the top finishers.
Entry is open to any amateur golfer who has a current USGA handicap index at an MSGA member club, and also to non-members for an increased fee (non-members are not eligible for prizes).
Four-ball stroke play is the primary competitive format, in which golfers compete in teams of two, each playing their own ball. The lower of the partners' scores is the team score for the hole.
Chapman/Pinehurst format will be used as an alternative format for one of the 2017 events. In this format golfers compete in teams of two, each partner plays from the teeing ground and plays the partner's ball for the second shot. After the second shot, the partners select the ball with which they wish to score and play the ball alternately to complete the hole.
Two of the 2017 one-day events will use a stableford scoring format, which involves scoring points based on the number of strokes (in relation to par) taken at each hole. In a stableford competition, the objective is to score the highest number of points.
Divisions are based on gender and yardage with the following options:
Men's - Back: 6100-6500 yards
Men's - Forward: 5700-6100
Mixed: Men 5700-6100/Women 5100-5500
*The Mixed and Women's Divisions may be combined if there are fewer than four teams in either division
